Elizabeth (Betty) Boyd

When the Delta Thistle Curling Club opened in 1972, Betty Boyd was one of the founding board members, serving on the executive for twenty-five years. She was a director and curler for thirty-seven years.

Betty organized the first Senior Ladies Bonspiel in Delta and chaired the event for over twelve years. In 2008, the Delta Thistle Curling Club hosted forty-eight senior ladies in this very successful event. She was named Extraordinary Volunteer of the club in 2005, after many years of continued service.

Her community involvement extends beyond curling, having coached softball in North Delta for many years as well as volunteering her services every week at the Surrey Memorial Hospital as an extended care aide.

Betty continues to curl Tuesdays and Thursdays, volunteers on the social committee for all events and manages to function as a curling instructor to junior curlers.

Betty Boyd has resided in Delta for over forty years and for most of them, has served the community with distinction.
