CRITERIA FOR NOMINATION OF INDUCTEES INTO THE HALL OF FAME:

ATHLETE

Any athlete who has participated successfully and actively in amateur or professional sport at a provincial, national, or international level, having performed in such a manner as an individual or team member that has resulted in athletic recognition and created special honour for Delta. Such athlete is or has been a resident of Delta and/or has represented a Delta Team, School or Organization.

COACH

Any coach who has participated successfully in amateur or professional sport at a provincial, national or international level, having performed in such a manner that brought honour and recognition to Delta. Such coach is or has been a resident of Delta and/or has coached a Delta Team, School or Organization.

BUILDER

Any individual who has attained a high level of excellence and brought recognition and honour to sport in Delta through ongoing dedication towards the building and improvement of athletes, teams or sport itself. The builder must have been a resident of Delta at the time of achievement(s) or represented a Delta sporting body. Such builder can be defined as an administrator, volunteer, official or association.

TEAM

The team must have attained a high level of excellence and brought recognition and honour to Delta at a national or international level relative to junior or senior disciplines. Teams will only be considered in the one year of their accomplishment.

PIONEER

Any individual who has participated successfully and actively in amateur or professional sport, and performed in such a manner as an individual or team member that has resulted in athletic recognition and created special honour for Delta. Such an athlete is or has been a resident of Delta and/or represented a Delta team, school or organization. The achievement must have been accomplished prior to the last 50 years.

SPONSOR

A sponsor who has demonstrated continued support for teams or sporting bodies in the community of Delta. Such sponsor has shown longevity, loyalty and dedication.

NOMINATION REQUIREMENTS for DELTA SPORTS HALL OF FAME INDUCTEES & DELTA SPORT CHAMPIONS:

Any nominee must be a resident of Delta and/or represented a Delta team, school or organization.

Any individual or association may submit a nomination.

Any individual or organization may submit one nominee for each category.

Fully completed nomination forms and RESUMES of athletic achievements MUST be received by the closing deadline.

Nominations will NOT be accepted verbally or by telephone.

The Delta Sports Hall of Fame Nominations Committee reserves the right to seek nominations and decline nominations.

Nomination forms will be available at specified locations in Delta, in the local papers and on its website. Any Delta sport bodies with a website will be encouraged to either post the form or provide a link to the DSHF Website.

Nominations for Hall of Fame inductees will be saved for consideration in subsequent years.

Sport Champion nominations are eligible for consideration in the applicable year only.
